Coming out from a hole.
By Min Jung. Filed in Just Me |So 2010 is off to a weird start.
Funny as this is supposed to be my year in many ways. The year of the tiger.
12 years ago I got a tattoo. A tiger. An imprint on skin of the values and strength that being born in the year of the tiger is supposed to portend. Strength, charisma, a ferocious energy and general independence and bravery – these are Tiger characteristics.
These are the qualities I aspire to embody again this year.
The last year or so I’ve felt I was in hibernation a lot. Some of it due to the gestation and lot due to the nonstop transitions that left me off kilter. I’m hoping to correct this soon and with great vigor.
I’ve decided to make some changes in my life this next year.
The first off is removing myself from distractions that leave me drudgy and isolated. This means weaning myself off of warcraft and being at home too much alone with the baby. This means being out and about with her, along with re-connecting with friends near and far that I haven’t made enough effort to sync up with.
Museum and Zoo annual memberships are in queue.
Additionally walking more and being less physically sedentary. A week and a half ago when the weather was nicer I walked in total about 10 miles. From our home to downtown Sausalito. It felt good and it was noticeable how caged in I felt last week by comparison when the weather made it prohibitive to be out.
Additionally I’m looking into investing my energies back into projects and activities that I enjoy. I hope to start going back to KSW events, I’m looking forward to SXSW where I will be presenting again at the annual “How to Rawk Out at SXSW” panel with copanelists Ben Huh, Jeremy Keith, and Denise Jacobs. I’ll also be performing at this year’s 20×2, thus themed “Who Loves You, Baby”.
And new projects and tasks include teaching myself to sew and possibly starting a new business related around the sewing and creation of Podaegis (A Korean Baby wrap carrier).
All good things that will help me sharpen my claws again. 2010. Year of the Tiger.
Ready? Here I come.

Hey there tiger.
Wait a sec you’re cutting back on WoW? Congrats and good luck. I’m down to a low dosage these days which would be easy to cut off except for my SO’s chronic usage. It just gets lonely in a house when everyone else is playing WoW
Go say hi to the tigers at the zoo for me, but please don’t harass them. We know how that ends…

Sounds like someone is ready for a new Kimchi Mamas Meet-up. Shall we plan one in February?

Hi MJ,
Just started following the blog and love it. Good luck with getting out and about. I find that I get really sluggish when I spend too much time at home- lack of structure and interaction takes it’s toll..It just takes it so slowly and insidiously that by the time you realize it, it’s become much harder to do anything about it.
