SF Salut!
By Min Jung. Filed in General |Wondering when this writing block/hump/mental constipation episode will finally be gone and I’ll have better access to my own voice again.
So many things seem like they’re pending.
Or just…. requiring a landmark milestone to trigger.
Maybe it’ll all square itself away when I move to Seattle.
Oh.
Yeah.
I’m moving to Seattle with my husband next month.
Which means about just under 45 days of being in San Francisco and doing lots of things San Franciscan.
There’s a few things that I’ve done that makes me feel better that I”ve plowed through this past week or so.
- Spoonful of Happiness from Koo
- Spun the wheel and ate the icecream from Pollyann (I got Yuba flavor btw)
- 49 Mile scenic route of San Francisco
- Cruise through Muir Woods
- Driven down to Santa Cruz to listen to the ocean crash endlessly on miles of moonlit beach and rocks.
- Stop at Twin Peaks for the view
- Stop and peep at the Bison in GG Park
There’s a bunch more that I need to do.
- Ride a Trolly
- Walk up the steps to Coit Tower
- Have a cappucino at Cafe Trieste
- Attend service at Grace Cathedral
- Sit in City Lights Bookstore
- See the SF Zoo(which I’m doing with friends later in the month)
- Stroll through the DeYoung Museum
If you were me what else would be on the list?
Do you want to do these things with me?

Don’t miss:
– Camping on Angel island… You can take a ferry there from SF and have the island mostly to yourself after the last tour boat goes back in the afternoon. Feel like you’re out in the remote forest, but look out the window of your tent to see a stellar view of the SF skyline. And the top of the hill offers one of the best views in the bay area.
– Attend the opening of the new Academy of Sciences next month.

Also: the Tourist Club… the biergarten in the middle of the redwood forest that you have to hike to on Mt. Tam.
They’re having their Oktoberfest party this Sun.

yay for muir woods, twin peaks, and the 49 mile drive. definite faves — i take nearly every person who visits me on the drive. love it.
while you’re eating ice cream, you should also visit either Mitchell’s on guerrero or Bi-Rite Creamery at 18th & Dolores (or both, of course!).

Congratulations on your upcoming move! Seattle is a remarkable place. I have been feeling the urge to leave San Francisco soon, myself …
I have attended service at Grace Cathedral before, but I would love to return. If you get to that bullet-point on your list, please let me know.

Have a bowl of cioppino @ Little Joe’s.
Have sand dabs @ Tadich Grill.
Have clam chowder and crab Louie @ Swan’s.
Have crab and avocado crepes (followed by Nutella crepes, natch!) @ Ti Couz.
Get a salami or proscuitto sandwich @ Molinari’s. Eat it in the park, or along Herb Caen Way.
Have all the yummy things @ the Ferry Plaza farmer’s market, including the wonderful places inside.
If you never have, go to Alcatraz. Spring for the audio tour.
Take lots of photos of everything and everyone.
P.S. from my son: Even though it’s corny and “touristy” have clam chowder in a sourdough bowl. (I think you can get that @ Swan’s, since you’ll be there for the chowder anyway.)

It’ll probably at least a year or two before I’ll be able to get myself up to Seattle again so I hope we can plan a weekend to see you again.
