Photos and update after my nap.
I was so excited to come home that I couldn’t sleep at all last night.

My dad fed me some home cooking and announced
“Hey, you’re fat. Huh.”

My response.
“True. But I’m still cute. I had to make sure the boys could leave me alone at least *some* of the times”

Peace out from Livonia, MI.

APA Roundup

Oh jayzus.

I’m watching the AZN Asian Excellence awards on TV.
It’s like they got everyone who eats rice in Los Angeles to attend or be nominated to this thing.

Here’s my… uh… play by play commentary..

Hosted by Kelly Hu & Bobby Lee
Some highlights:
Bai Ling — amazingly, she kept her top on. And thank goodness, she’s not singing.
Lou Diamond Phillips – Yuppers. He’s Asian. Para Bailar La Bamba of brown = indiscriminate ethnic minority. Well, he’s got dem cheekbones.
Yunjin Kim — “I really don’t know what to say.. I’m feeling kind of Lost.. and I’m not being humble and Asian but lets…tell our stories and let’s not wait for Hollywood to determine when it’s our time… and please let’s do those great projects when I Gert killed off from Lost and when I lose my tan”

The Remy Martin XO Inspiration awards…. i mean.. dude.. how fricking korean club can you get with the Remy.

This goes to Doctor Ho who’s been doing some amazing work in researching in AIDS.
Presented by Magic Johnson. Who is not Asian. But has probably had a little Asian at some point in his life. (badump bum)

Hmmm John Cho looks like he needs a haircut.
Both Joan Chen & Michelle Krusciek won nominations for the fabulous film Saving Face which I endorse to anyone and everyone.

Holy Shit.. Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park… combining both rap & violins…. Stop.Me.From.Cracking.A.Joke.

Holy Crap … From Flower Drum Song they have Nancy Kwan and James Shigeta. Pearl Cream done good.

Outstanding Newcomer winner – Lynn Chen who was also in Saving Face. Uber cute.

Outstanding shout outs to Ismael Merchant – Lifetime achievement. Producer of some brilliant favorite films like room with a view. Must have inspired Ang Lee to work with pasty white British people. I jest. I jest.

Gratuitous fashion shows…um…kay….2 of them.

Outstanding Film winner is Kung Fu Hustle.
Go Stephen Chow and gang… but I was hoping this was going to focus more on American films with APA’s vs. overseas films that have crossed over well here to the Us.

Um… Ka… Cirque De Soleil

To note: Jackie Chan sounds way more comfortable speaking English than Stephen Chow did. And less awkwardly like it’s being read from a TelePrompter.

Biggest Asian-file in Hollywood – Quentin Terentino wins some recognition.
Sadly, he likely is still the most powerful person in Hollywood that in that room.

Best Live performance
Nominees…
Ka – Cirque De Soleil
Lennon – Broadway performance (For YOKO? YOKO?)
Linkin Park – winning for their performance in live8 (ummm… did Joe Hahn gain a little weight?.. he looks cuddly..)

Rob Shneider is presenting. I had no idea he was Hapa. huhh.

BabyPhat gets her own fashion strut showcase as well. My…word…
Kimora Lee Simmons couldn’t accept the award so Vivica Fox is sporting the bling.

Ralph Macchio gives the shout out for Pat Morita.
Mr. Miyagi would be very proud of Daniel-san. Woot.

Karen Hom doing some zither action…

Outstanding TV Male performers… — The nominees are…
Naveen andrews – Lost
Mark-Paul Gossellar of Commander in Chief
Daniel Dae Kim – Lost
BD Wong – Law & Order – SVU

So cool… only one of them who doesn’t actually look too Asian.
Daniel Dae Kim wins… totally big hotness.

Hmmm… Kelly Hu has changed outfits more time than a Taiwanese Wedding’s bride. I mean, seriously.

The Visibility Award goes to Lucy Liu and presented by Danny Devito & Rhea Perlman. Woot… Unicef Ambassador and speaks Chinese & Italian and uh.. plays the accordion?! Oh my.

And huh… 2 hours later it’s done.

How do I feel? Hmmm ok. Not as snarky as I totally could have been.

On Housekeeping & What not..

Happy Lunar New Year folks!

May your heart, life and home be filled with peace, laughter, and many blessings. And yeah, though the year is of the dog, I’m pretty sure it isn’t going to be as much of a bitch as last year.

In a bit of housecleaning this year I figured I’d ping you with a bit of an update.

#1. The CD that I’ve mentioned before is officially up and available for sale now.
Expect Jane, the partner in crime, to comment something about this soon.

And yes, we’ve finally gotten around to resurecting the website for the lable.
Yes it’s bare bones. More good stuff to come as we get around to it.
At the very least the cd’s will be available wherever yon you see yours trully or Jane in the bay. I promise from here on out i won’t travel anywhere with less than 3 of these on my bodily person. $15/piece. A bit more with shipping and handling if you insist but that can be accommodated. Stuff should be available on CDBaby and various other places soon enough as I’ve zipped off the cd’s last week. Wee!

#2. I’m getting ready for my next batch of travels.
Heading into michigan with digital camera (yes.. new) and mittens and hats and cowbell. Then as I mentioned before, a stint in Toronto, Chicago, and NYC.
Ping me if you want to meet up at any juncture. Times/schedules are finally in the solidifying process.

#3. Job hunting… well i’m plugging away at it. And have other various housekeeping things to manage about that as well. Bills, etc.. and all that responsible stuff. Medical care is forefront on my mind. I can’t believe that Cobra coverage is nearly $400 a month. Un-fricking-believable. Anyone canadian wanna marry me? Come*on* now.

Update on Me.

So change is definitely blowing hard and fast in the air today.

It’s a really good thing.
I promise.

Some optimism charging things:

#1. My trip to Texas was so imensely soul rewarding that I don’t know where to begin. It’s amazing to me how often we script our own successes adn failures. And how often we allow other people to draft the script for us. Especially when the script is on the self critical side. We are indeed our own worst enemies. And when another person or other individuals voice or behave in a manner that echoes and resonates our own self doubts, we’re more likely to believe theose criticisms than to doubt and question them.

Well at least if you’re me. I tend to be modest and humble.
So I take criticism and judgement seriously and with great care.
Mostly because I care because I strive every day to be a better and better person.

The biggest thing that I’ve learned is that my own inner voice is stronger than I give myself credit for.

And DOUBT is just a 4 letter word with over-rated interest on top.

Fuck that.

I want to give my shout outs and love to everyone whom I got to hang with and/or have wonderful conversations with while I was on the crazy roadtrip.

#2.
My mojo feels like it’s finally back.

#3.
Next travels:
You know, you never realize how burnt out (temporarily) that youv’e been until you actually have a healthy bit of time off. This is thelongest and most relaxed piece of time that I’ve had in a single stretch in far too long. I’m totally digging it though I know I’m going to be ready to work in the next month or so.

In the interim: Travel destinations are as follows:

Detroit,MI
Toronto,ON
Madison,WI
Chicago,IL
NYC,NY

And then back.

#4.
I’m finally feeling like me again.
Hello me. Where you been? I missed you, me. It’s so good to have you, me, back around again.

Give a shout out.
I’m around.

Geek Girl Collision

Anyone besides me wants to know what the hell happened to the Ito sisters post Godzilla & Mothra.

Inquiring minds wanna know.

I’d like to believe that they smoke cigars and joke around about having kinky sex with a well hung dude in a rubber suit.

But then again, that’s just me.

Anyone know how the Ito twins are?
What their pop culture lifestyle was post Mothra?
If they had children who had arachnaphobia?
if tanyone in their family had a successful singing career?
What language they sang in for the uber “native language singing” dance number?
If they wore underwear beneath their native islander outfits?
If they ever had an affair with any of the actors in the Godzilla/mothra series?

I need to know.
Seriously.

Road Trip Update : Part Seis – Finalmente

Location: Casa Arguello
San Francisco, CA

Miles Logged: 17433
Hours Driven: 29.5 (includes meals/nap&gassup times)
Hours listening to the Comedy radio stations on XM: 27+ (I *heart* Mitch Fatel)
States Driven Through: Texas, Texas, Texas, Texas (that damn state just goes on for fricking *ever*) New Mexico, Arizona, California
Weather Conditions: Dark=>Overcast=>Sunny=>Desert Sunny Dry=>Snow. Yes, Snow=>Chilly SFish weather minus the drizzel.
Memories: Too many to count
Rolls of film (yes film) to be developed: 5
SMS photos sent: 28
Phone calls made: 8
Number of times I referenced the exact same set of directions off of TellMe: 31

Kisses Blown to the wind: Innumerable

Prayers said: 252 Hail Mary’s within a 20 minute period of time when my car was running on fumes as I pleaded with God to make the next gas stop immediately migrate to be at the next available exit.

Bunnies inadvertantly run over: 2. Maybe 3. I cannot be held responsible for involuntary bunnyslaughter if the bunnies felt a compulsive need to fling themselves in blood sacrifice before my caffiene charged might driven car.

Dogs passed by the side of the road.. on a Benjie’esque journey to go home: 2 (So cute. A tiny grey terrier peaking out along railroad tracks to peer in at the cars of people stopped at an intersection. Hope he makes his way home. The other poor hound that I spotted an hour later, looked like he had been abandoned and needed new friends)

Overall distress on my car:
– More than effectively doubling the # of miles on my car since I left SF on January 6th.
– Totally needs a carwash, inside & out
– Some errant dallas neighbor scratches on the car that should be able to get bugged out
– The moonroof got more excercise this weekend thatn ever and is behaving a little snippety when driving & trying to close it.

Sweet Dreams: I think 1 solid very deep dream of pillows, besos, hugs, and giggles.

I am renewed.

Fricking exhausted.

But definitely renewed.

Today’s Prayer

Location:
Dallas, Texas
Casa Navarro

In as many moments of the day where I am able,
Please remind me daily, Dear God,
Of the capacity for joy that you’ve given to me,
The strength, confidence, and comfort of safety that I always have with you,
And the humility and grace that knows that
my existence is a product of your love,
and that only goodness can pour forth
with these intentions and faith in mind.

In the — really annoying things…

I”m still rather peeved that I have apparently lost my digital camera.

This leaves me with only my camphone and with *shock* a need to go back to film until I can justify a new cam’s purchase.

oy.

Ahhh…

Sanity.

Good not to make crazy roadtrip decisions at 3Am or later.

Those are best made (cough) only at 5PM-12PM.

Someone kindly reminded me how craptacular the weather will be heading back up north & to the midwest.

I mean, dur… how could a silly girl from Michigan forget that?!

I’ll be headin back to SF by Sunday.
