Kiss

I have large lips for a Korean. Big. Full. Lips.
They are a blessing, I know. And I enjoy the smooching as such.
I joke that Me & Angelina Jolie could/should make out except that there just might be too much lip between the two of us and all the small lipped women in the world would chuck their balled up receipts for collagen implants at us in fury and envy.

So what is the logic, pray tell,
for this ungodly act of nature that occured last night.

Last night, my dear readers, I was bit by a mosquito.
On my upper lip. My now overpuffy and heavy bloated sausage looking upper lip.

I now appear like an extra from Shark Tale.

Calling all Friends & Friends of Friends

Tuesday, July 26th, 2005

Yo Folks,

So as previously posted I’ve been working on trying to figure out my living plans over the next year.

I’ve decided to try & move forward with keeping my phat apartment and finding 3 new roommates for the place.
Instead of going the blind craigslist route, I’m hoping that friends or friends-of-friends will help me hook this up.

Area: Inner Richmond

Fantastic neighborhood close to the Clement street area restaurants, shops, etc.

Apartment: 4 Bedroom, 3 Bath with 2 Parking Spots. Bay windows in nearly all rooms. Large living space. Gas stove. Dishwasher. Laundry in Building. Unit takes up the entire floor in this 4 unit building.

Rooms Available:
1 Bedroom, share bath ~ $650 (Closer to the living room)
1 Bedroom, share bath ~ $650 (sandwhiched between two bedrooms)
1 Master Bedroom with own bath ~ $950.

1 Additional parking spot available in the garage for $100 more.

Street parking is usually not an issue.
No smokers, no drugs, no pets, prefer no nudity.
Gender or sexual orientation not an issue.
Prefer roommates who are emotionally/financially stable and reasonably clean and mature.

Apartment comes with full premium digital cable and internet.
Utilities/garbage are split between the roommates.
Unit and residents are fairly quiet and prefer to keep it that way so no loud/latenight parties though dinner parties have not been an issue.

Current Remaining resident: Me. I don’t bite. Usually.

Timeframe: Late August/Septemberish.

Please drop an email to me at minjung at minjungkim.com if interested.

I’d like to believe

That I am not the only person in the planet who measures haircuts in tribbles.

Yes, in Tribbles.

My last haircut was between 4-5 tribbles.

Please, no speculation on the tribble volume of my last full service salon visit. That’s rather personal.

Event Curation

Tuesday, July 19th, 2005

In October I’m going to be the honored guest curator for an arts night for Locus on the subject of Blogging.

aka Bloggers in the Arts Space
aka IRL – Bloggers up Close and stinky.

If you are an APA blogger in SF adn going to be around in October and would like to showcase or pitch something around your photoblog, musicblog, podcasts, videoblogs etc: please drop me a line. I’m looking to set up a “Pretty Smart People” bar. Not to be copyright infringing on the Apple Genius bar if you’re an artist or a person just interesting in setting up a blog that evening. The event will be BYOLT – Bring Your Own Laptop.

Some presenters are being formalized now but I think the event will be mad dope.
Confirmed presenters so far include
Ernie Hsiung of Littleyellowdifferent.com
Anil Dash of Dashes and 6Apart
Glenda Bautista of Agendacide

I am also interested in soundbite testimonials on how blogging has impacted your life as an APA or APA artist or whatnot.

Stay tuned.

Some thunks.

Being on the road isn’t bad.
After all, you get to see new sights, spend time with old friends, see the country a bit, and the inside of new places (your friend’s homes, your brother and sister in law’s new digs) etc.

It makes coming home on Thursday a desperate wish though, right now.
Even more so if someone were missing me.

Reminder

I’m going to be in NYC from Friday to Monday.

Dear Diary,

Last night I had like, totally, the most, amazingly coolest evening, like E.V.E.R.

OMG. I like totally don’t fricking know where to begin.

So like, I had kinda a lame day doing the day thing, like ya know, and then like I was at home doing the home thing where I had to totally scrounge around the apartment and through the couch for enough quarters to finish up my laundry and then like I got a call from my roommate Jane who is like…so da bomb. Ya know? And btw, she’s got a cool new website so you should check that stuff out, ya know?

Ok, ok ok. So wait a minute… where was I … oh yeah.

So like Jane calls me and asks me if I want to join her and some friends for like dinner or something.
So I totally ditch my laundry and I just go. Cuz you know hanging with Jane is like so cool that even though she’s my roommate and everything, it’s like so dope to be able to chill out with her cuz she’s so busy and stuff and so am I, like you know.

Ok Ok, so we go and have dinner and there’s this totally dreamy guy there and oh.my.gawd. he like totally remembers me from school when we were in the same lame ass whatevar Korean 101 class, you know? So we talk and shit and catch up and it’s like soo completely awesome.

And then we go to Brainwash and there was this band going to play there but you know what, omg, you’re not going to beleive this. This was so awesome. I mean, the dreamy guy was the guy playing!

His name is Ken Oak and he is utterly dreamy and he like so totally rocked out with his bandmate Chris Ramos. You should *totally* listen to their stuff. I mean totally. I mean like right now. RIGHT NOW, I mean it. Like totally. Or you’ll totally die. I so so so know it.

They were like so totally cool and amazing and everything. And Jason who’s the band’s manager was totally hilarious sticking his head like through the window and stuff. Anyway the show was so totally cool and like wow. It was so amazing that I could.have.died.

I’ve never seen a cello rocked out like that with like such great singing and lyrics and all that cool stuff, you know? So like, oh my gawd, I’ve totally turned into a fan-girl, like you know? And so we hung out later that night…cuz you know like how totally cool is it to hang out with the band after the show and everything. Not like I’m a groupie, cuz, like duh, that’d be so lame and Huh, I’m just not about being so fricking lame, like you know?

So like wow.
That was my really cool day, diary.

And oh yeah, cuz you know, I’m such a dork and everything, that like all of the pictures are up here.

Do you ever experience flash dreams?

They’re a common occurance for me.

I’m not sure how to describe them except in context of my life in the bay area and in an accelerated state of efficiency.

They are like daydreams on cocaine. Flashes, sparks, instantaneous images and experiences, pointed and poignant emotions evoked within seconds. Daydreams are apparently for the languorous who have the luxury of time to indulge in slow, soft, and savorful moments that leave long trails within the ether of memory and subconscious as they overlay the experience of the momentary or extended mundane.

Flash dreams are not like that. They are immediate. They grab your attention and suck you in within the span of time it takes to strike a match and for it to burn your fingertips.

While driving home earlier today I experienced one of these.

In it, the amorphous *you*, well, anyways, there was a *you* to whom I was experiencing this. This particular moment * you* were with me in a dark room where the shades were drawn as the far too warm sun seemed to lay burden and significance to every sensation. It was late afternoon and the only artificial noises came from outside with the occasional whitenosie background of cars and busses going by. Inside–the metronomic tempo of your Felix the Cat clock on the wall, the eyes and tail swung asymetrically against a white wall with darkness scarred across the expanse like jail bars instead of like blinds.

And I was sitting on the couch as *you* sat on the floor at my feet, weeping softly until you started hiccuping. And all I could do is stroke your hair, damp at your temples with sweat and the tears you’d wiped with the back of your hand against your cheek and ears, and swallow my terror — that I might not being strong enough to love you at your weakest and when you needed me most.

I’m in that weird tossup mode re: Fall living plans right now.

#1. I have a great apartment and great people that I’ve lived with over the last year.

#2. For various reasons, it look slike we’re all going our seperate ways.

#3. But I have a PHAT apartment right now with parking, dishwasher, and my own bathroom.

So…

Do I

a) Try to find 3 new roommates or

b) Consider moving out of SF to maintain my cost/living ratio again

c) Find other folks looking for a roommate
