OK.
So life grinds back to normal.
Jane, while garnering 48K votes, (an extraordinarly feat with limited newspaper endorsements and an inital first time campaign from a candidate — any candidate) did not win a seat on the schoolboard this year.
* big exhale*
Still, an amazing experience and an extraordinary opportunity to take a hand in being involved in local politics and grassroots activism first hand. I’m very proud of her and am honored to have been a part of this amazing process.
It’s going to be weird a bit. Too quiet, in the next few days as I situate myself back to life per status quo and not amidst living in campaign central in my living room.
For everyone who supported our efforts in volunteering or donations or voting,
I thank you.
Honestly. Earnestly. It was a great and humbling experience to ask for your help and to receive it openhandedly. I really appreciate it.
And from Jane: She says mad props.(and a lot more but that’s for her to express to you and not mine to presume to put words in her mouth)
She’s handling her defeat with amazing grace and dignity. Of note, folks who spent 10 x the $$ as she did on her campaign ALSO lost. This is a testament to the extraordinary commitment, dedication, and energy devoted to supporting progressive voice and beliefs for this campaign.
This is a victory. A serious, and undeniable victory.
There were over 100 volunteers who came out this last weekend to help get out the vote. I, myself, walked precincts up until 1AM last night in last ditch efforts to help support her campaign. As my friend Jeremiah stated earlier this evening: the struggle continues.
The struggle continues.
The struggle absofuckinglootly continues.
So now: back to normal.
I have loads of laundry to do, boys to kiss, and to try and get back on track with my general behavior of navelgazing and mischief.
Sweet dreams and well earned sleep.
