Today’s Thunk

I was too busy gazing at my toes.
Couldn’t look you in the eye.
Scared to catch you looking away.
And
…then
….I
….tumbled.

So this is what falling is.

So this is what falling is.

Feets

So this weekend I went to a party where they had a best pedicure contest.

Moi, with my bruised & ugly toe, obviously did not win.

But here again, I am called out to have my tootsies adored.

Adventure!

The Kissing Bandit Vs. The Ultra Snoot Geek

The setting: Swank Bar with both “the beautiful people” and “those people who think that they’re so smart and clever that they don’t need to bother with personalities”. And we have there, the KB who’s been dragged on some awful adventure.

USG: You’re very pretty.
KB: Thank you.
USG: So .. .um… let me tell you about this project I’m working on. It involves (blah blah blah … fifteen minutes goes by blah blah blah)
KB: What, you’re still here?
USG: So what do you think?
KB: That your personality’s about as dry as 14th century biscuit.
USG: ….
KB: …
USG:…
KB:…
USG: You’re so pretty.
KB: I know.

Blogathon

I’ve selected whom I’m sponsoring for the Blogathon.

Have you?

Hurrah!

Lots of amazing folks, writers, creative types, geeks, and etc. who are putting their all into raising funds for charity.

Moi, I’m lazy, so I’m throwing in a few bones for support to some fave peeps.
Go folks go!

*Smooch*

Poetica Spontenaium 7.24.03

Sinking
Quick sand quick
Into brown brown eyes
I tried quelling
The thudder that reminded
me they weren’t yours.

Apologies are weak and worthless
said the man at the counter
after discounting a pack
of favorite smoke sticks,
sliding them swiftly into my hand.

In a too long stare
In a stumble of words to ask…
I smiled and waved
And he,
he-not you,
turned
smiled, and turned away.

Quick quick, in a thunder
my pulse quickened
like a body memory
choosing to remember the perfect breast stroke.

And away I went.
Fathoms.

Poetica Spontenaium 7.21.03

I.
Between the crevice of vein and clavicle
Deep, tight, and dark
A galaxy within implodes quietly
And holds you wet and near.

II.
The intention was to stop.
I didn’t. And fined with a fault
I contemplated those times I ached not to stop
But did.
Mercy made acceptance of justice seamless
Like the skin of a newborn calf.

III.
I left the photos out in the sun
Purposely, so that they’d fade swiftly.
As if memories so dear could be manipulated
To exhaust themselves and gasp softly into the mundane
Like the withered man on the bus.

IV.
The mist, while water,
Could not wash my eyes
Of the acidity of your turned back
Walking away from a July San Francisco Cornerstop
Another evening in the Mission
Without song or tempo. Vaguely vacant
And distempered.

V.
Quelling the sounds
of
yes. That.

There’s comfort in keeping things
unsaid.

Postal Police

Anyone know what’s up with Postal Police?

I was driving behind this postal police car today and I thought …how odd.
I mean, I’m sure they do work with regards to mail theft/identity theft/ and funny little white powders sent in the mail and such….

But I just imagine some postal policeman abusing his a-thor-i-tay to give out citations to folks who put their stamps on upside down. Or sideways. Or too much postage. Or not enough postage. Or bulky sized letters. Or addresses without the full zip+4. Or sending mail out to affectionate pseudonyms instead of proper names.

ie: Package of Condoms sent by brown paper mail To: Raving Nympho
ie: Package of Bills, Pictures of Weeping Children etc To: Deadbeat Daddy
ie: Package of Dirty Panties and Soap To: Dirty Cheating Bastard

Would serving for these crimes involve paper cuts on the tongue & stamp licking? Processing lost packages?

Kind of makes you wonder. Or maybe that’s just me.

Funny

I am amused that Altavista’s Babelfish translates KB: short for Kissing Bandit, into Kilobyte.

Convo with the Kissing Bandit

Requiem for a Cream

KB: I broke it.
Moi: What?
KB: “IT!”
Moi: “WHAT?!”
KB: Yeah. My little battery operated friend.
Moi: You’re shitting me.
KB: No. It really broke.
Moi: Well, after all the milage you put it through, no wonder.
KB: Yeah but still. I mean, my level of activity is normal. Healthy. Right?
Moi: Makes me more than a little nervous for your next boyfriend.
KB: Maybe now we know why they don’t last so long.
Moi: Funeral proceedings are when?
KB: Oh, I already had a little sumpin sumpin on the side. I’m not too sad.
Moi: Bunny ears?
KB: Werd.

Exhaustion

My sleep cycle is all wacked out. My belly feels gurgly fliperoo. The sun is out early. My ankles hurt a little.

In otherwords, I’m young & active & happy.

It’s been a very full weekend.
* Geocaching with Team Jish
* Paris’s Bday Party (where I socialized for a half hour and then fell asleep in the middle of the party despite the thumping bass & people running amok around me. I soon excused myself to crash out on the bday boy’s bed.)
* More napping
* Dim Sum & Some Home Networking Attempts
* Dinner with Internet Luminaries

I’m tuckered out.

Still reading Stiff and recently discovered that my pal Liza (Former Model/Former Radio DJ/Former Ball Room Dance Instructor/ Currently a Mortician. True) is reading the same book.

Hoo hah.
