Poetica Spontenaium 4.30.03
(Warning. Teenage Angst Goth Poetry Alert. Blame it on the dream I had last night about Flirting w/ Jenny Shimuzu at a Lipstick Lesbian Bondage Bar. Don’t ask.)

I thought better of it.
Never mind.

Open Mic Night w/ Scott Andrew

I swear I didn’t burp through his performance though I was sorely tempted.
Here’s Scott Andrew from last night’s open mic gig at the Rockin Java.

Wav File – 8 14 minute set (yeah, not the best audio quality but hey, bootleg collectors rejoice!)ScottAndrewLive04.30.03

And yeah, I’m not nearly as cool as Tantek or Cheyenne who blogged live from the event. Cheyenne even used audblog to broadcast her own little radio showlet live from the cafe.

High Definition TV – in SF – Open Call for Beta Testers

Hiya,
I’m looking for folks interested in being beta testers in SF for Comcast’s HDTV service.
You *must* live in an Advanced Digital Network area (that means that if you have Showtime, you have like 6 of them) in San Francisco.

If interested, please email me at min_kim at cable.comcast.com

Agh!

I don’t know if I should laugh or be disturbed.

After cleaning up from the aftermath of the party, I’ve discovered that a few things are missing.

#1. The bday gift from Heather & Derek … a party Izone camera *boo hoo* =(
#2. My pocket rocket. Big big big *boo hoo* Safely Found. Oy. *grin*

Now seriously, what’s a girl to do?

Wow, whatta party.

If I’m quiet the next few days, it’s because I’m recovering. From the best gawddamn bday party ever.
Much cheers to the folks I was fortunate to celebrate with. Birthday kiddies: Cheyenne, Geno, Derek, Heather, Ariel.

(Only about a third of the pix I took are publishable. The rest are reserved to protect the guilty & innocent.)

Rolling with the Punches

To be honest, my morning yesterday did not start off so well. There were two early morning calls by the parents. One at 5:40 AM, the next one at 6:40 AM. The first from my step mother telling me that I should have a kid by now.
“Can’t we wait until Dad at least meets & *then* gets to hate my guy?”
“You how old now? 29? Old lady.”
“Thanks.”
“Happy birthday, I love you!”

Then the call from my Dad.
“Happy Birthday. I’m going to die soon.”
“Stop that, Dad. Mom said that for 12 years before she finally died from cancer.”
“I know.”
“There’s not even anything wrong with you.”
“But I’m old.”
“Aigoo. Just let me go back to sleep for a bit.”

And then I got rear-ended on the way into work. Ewww. Seeing a chiropractor for a consultation later today. I’m glad I own a saturn. Other than a paint scrape it looks like the tupperware car has minimal damage.

The day got better, I promise. And as far as birthdays go, was a bang. Last minute plans to eat massive quantities of food at Bucca di Beppo and consume chianti chianti and more chianti are not a bad way to end a day, or start a new year. I am grateful for my very very good friends. You rock.

So I guess if I had to predict what this next year’s going to look like, I’d say…unpredictable. I’ll just have to learn to roll with it.

Huh.

Funny. I feel exactly the same.
*shrug*

Happy bday me.

(Yes I know I show this pix every year on my bday. It’s the only one that I rather like.)

I want my Queer As Folk

I’ve been following the trials & tribulations of the library folks regarding pulling QAF from the library’s stock. Wonder if we could start an email/letter writing campaign on this…

Diction

I have a midwest accent. A typical, plain midwest accent. I speak in the dialect most commonly preferred by news anchors. On odd occasions, I’ll lapse into a particular clan’s Michigan dialect (That’d be the Michigan Michaelsons…now in Fon Du Lac Wisconsin). Yet the past few days spent with a born & bred pure Brooklynite is rubbing off on me. Just listening to her, I feel my jaw and lips stretch in uncommon ways. My vowels and aspirations become foreign to even my own ears.

It’s weyaard. Ay can’t figgur it owut but it’s weyaard.

Happy Earthday

Try not to… uh… dump nuclear waste or toss your cigarette butts out the window today. Ok?
It’s the little things we do.

Toe-Up
Yes, this weekend was spent mostly toe-up. Drunkie. And giggly. Not to mention that my toe, will literaly, be toe-up. I dropped a gas nozzle on it and owie ow ow ow. It’s rather a lovely shade of periwinkle now but a shadow of a deeper blue/black is edging its way from the lunula of the nail upwards. Not fun.

Hope all was well with you kind folks on this past Easter weekend.
It’s going to be a nutty week.

Party preps are underway. Hurray.

Good Friday

Frankly, every Friday is good.

As the lousy lapsed catholic that I am, I’m going to try & hit mass tonight.
T-6 Days to the Birthday.
Whoo.

I’m feeling my age. And every year I say it, and every year I mean it, but the winds of change are pushing at my back and nudging me forward.
This is the beginning of the rest of your life.

Things I’ll tell my best girlfriends but have a hard time believing myself.
“Dayam girl, you look great for your age…but you really should buy yourself a new pair of jeans. It’s cool though.”
