Apologies
Beg Pardon,
It’s a touch late, but I wanted to wish a happy howdy Chusok (Korean Thanksgiving) and Lovely Moon Festival day to all peeps. The moonlight was rather glorious tonight. Creeping in under window panes, through cracks in doors, and if you’re me, through your fingers outspread whilst your hand is pressed up upwards towards the sky while you’re reclined in the car with the moon roof open. Tis lovely. Tis quiet. Tis quite intimate and peaceful.
The moon seemed a little high and distant today, unlike last year. Or maybe that’s just my memory. The light is still utterly brilliant and clear and I could see all the lovely scars and laugh wrinkles on the moon’s face, looking down at me squarely, like a mother who has no choice but to love completely their child. Am I silly to feel like I am a moon child? It would explain my tendency to be such a night person…and answer to more than a few jokes about my pale skin and mercurial temperament. I suppose.
If you’re a late night bird like me, and find yourself able to, go peek up at the moon and embrace her light lovingly. And give thanks.
PS:
Pssst. Great resource for a multicultural calendar here.
